Cancel Tsunami Express at least seven business days before your renewal date, either in the mobile app, where the change goes through the same day, or with the Membership cancellation form on the Tsunami Express Help page. Keep your cancellation confirmation; you’re responsible for having it.[1]

How to cancel Tsunami Express in the app (same day)

The app makes the change the same day, but the terms still need your request at least seven days before renewal, and we suggest seven business days (see the notice section below). Plan changes sit on the vehicle’s plan screen, which you reach through the Garage.[3]

  1. Open the Tsunami Express Car Wash app and sign in. If your membership doesn’t show, link it first with Migrate Existing Plan (see the Take 5 section below).
  2. On the Home screen, tap Garage (the car icon at the bottom center) and select your vehicle.
  3. Tap the pencil icon at the top right, then choose Manage under Active Plan.
  4. Pick the cancel option on that screen and finish the flow.
  5. Screenshot the confirmation screen and keep any email Tsunami sends.

Tip: if you can’t find a cancel option, use the written form below instead.

Cancel Tsunami Express in writing with the Help page form

What you need first

The form asks for your full name, email address and phone, plus your license plate number and Fast Pass number and your location. Written cancellations need “complete, accurate information,” so fill in every field you can.

Steps

  1. Go to the Help page and scroll to Contact Us.
  2. Answer the two Yes/No questions: whether you’re a Tsunami Express member, and whether you came from a Take 5 location that became a Tsunami Express.
  3. Fill in your details, choose Membership cancellation under Topic, and say in the message which vehicle you’re canceling.
  4. Select Submit and save any confirmation or reply you get.

Send it at least 7 business days before renewal

Tsunami needs that long to process written cancellations.

The Help page lists phone and live chat for help, not as cancellation channels. If an agent cancels for you by phone or chat, ask for a written confirmation and keep it.

Tsunami Express cancellation notice: 7 days or 7 business days?

The Terms and Conditions say a request must be submitted “at least seven days before the Renewal Date” to stop the next charge, and a later request “may take effect after the next Renewal Date.” The Help page sets a stricter rule for written cancellations: seven business days.[1][2]

Use the business-day count whichever way you cancel, and count back from your enrollment anniversary. Once canceled, the membership normally stays usable through the period you’ve already paid for.

Example: your plan renews on Friday, December 18, 2026. Seven calendar days back is Friday, December 11, but seven business days back is Wednesday, December 9. Cancel by December 9 and the renewal is covered under both rules.

Pause your Tsunami Express plan instead

If you only need a break, the app has a pause option on the same plan screen.

  1. Tap Garage and select your vehicle.
  2. Tap the pencil icon, then Manage under Active Plan.
  3. Tap Pause Your Plan, pick a pause length and finish.

Check the screen for any charge before you confirm the pause.

Tsunami Express bought 53 Take 5 Car Wash locations from Whistle Express Car Wash in September 2025 and has since rebranded them, including their membership systems.[4]

To manage or cancel in the app, link your old plan first: tap the 3-dot menu on the Home screen, select Migrate Existing Plan, and enter your Fast Pass/RFID sticker number in the format #####+######. Each vehicle is linked separately.[3]

Got a “cancellation” email after linking? That email only confirms your account was closed in the old system and moved to the new one. Your membership is still active, so cancel it separately if that’s what you want.

Tsunami has said it can’t cancel or refund charges for periods before it owned the site. If your wash still carries the Whistle Express name, follow the steps for canceling a Whistle Express membership instead.

2 Simple Ways to Cancel your Take 5 Car Wash Membership

What doesn’t cancel a Tsunami Express membership

None of these cancels a membership: removing your card, disputing a charge, deleting the app, changing your license plate, or simply not washing. A failed payment can be retried periodically without a separate notice each time.[2]

Fees are “fully earned upon payment,” and prorated refunds aren’t given, except where the law requires one. No cancellation fee is listed.

If you hold a Founders Club membership, a promotional rate tied to one location, that price is “permanently forfeited upon cancellation.” A pause may suit you better if you plan to come back.

Tsunami must give at least 30 days’ notice before a material price increase. If you don’t want the new price, cancel before it applies.

Still charged after you cancel Tsunami Express?

Member reports from 2026 describe promotional $5 memberships later billed at the full rate. In February 2026, Tsunami said “some billing and communication gaps occurred” during its move to a new point-of-sale system and that it takes “responsibility for resolving any resulting errors.”[5]

  1. Send the Help page form with the topic Billing question, and include the dates, amounts, membership type, card type and its last four digits.
  2. Attach or quote your cancellation confirmation.
  3. If that doesn’t resolve it, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer, but a dispute does not cancel the membership by itself, so make sure your cancellation went through.

The BBB profile for Tsunami Express showed 29 complaints in the last 3 years (22 in the last 12 months) as of October 25, 2026, and the business is not BBB accredited.[6]

Tsunami Express vs. Tsunami Car Wash in Louisiana

Tsunami Car Wash, with its “Tsunami Club” and a Manage My Plan link, is a separate business with locations in Gonzales, Geismar and St. Amant, Louisiana.[7]

If your card statement shows the Louisiana wash, cancel through that company’s own site. If it’s a different chain, start from our guides for other car wash chains.

Tsunami Express cancellation FAQs

What’s the Tsunami Express phone number for canceling?

Tsunami Express lists (219) 213-6865, Monday to Friday 8 AM to 6 PM CT and weekends 8 AM to 4 PM CT. The Help page describes the app and the written form for canceling, so get anything agreed by phone confirmed in writing.

Can I get a refund for the rest of the month?

Usually not. Prorated refunds aren’t given except where the law requires one, but you can normally keep washing until the paid period ends.

Does deleting the Tsunami Express app cancel my membership?

No. Cancel inside the app or with the written form before you delete it.

Can I move my membership to a new car?

Regular memberships can’t be transferred, so cancel the old car’s plan and buy one for the new car. Founders Club members may request one vehicle substitution every rolling 12 months, with proof of ownership.
